As the world strives to limit global warming to 1.5\u00b0C, transitioning away from coal in steelmaking is essential. While efforts to reduce coal dependency have largely focused on thermal coal so far, addressing met coal is equally urgent. Financial institutions can play a crucial role in ending new met coal projects \u2014 and they now have the tools to act. In this webinar, we will explore key findings from a recent Global Efficiency Intelligence analysis on coal consumption in steel production<\/a><\/span>. We will also present the Met Coal Exit List<\/a><\/span> (MCEL) \u2014 a new public database published by the German NGO Urgewald, which features coal companies expanding their met coal mining activities.
