A step towards sanctioning greenwashing practices in France

On June 24, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) announced that it had reached an agreement with asset manager Primonial Reim, which was accused of “breaches in its sustainability communications”. This is the first time that the French financial markets regulator, AMF, has made such an agreement public, and marks a first step towards imposing sanctions on the “sustainable” marketing of financial products. Although this signal is a step in the right direction, the AMF needs to go much further to respond to alerts about the greenwashing that French savers are facing.
