With nearly €2 trillion in assets, life insurance is by far the most popular savings product among the French. However, very few savers today know how their money is invested. Reclaim Finance has conducted an initial analysis of the investment policies of the 25 largest French life insurers. Although the vast majority have stopped investing their clients’ money in companies developing new coal projects, more than half of the life insurers analyzed are still investing in companies developing new hydrocarbon production projects. Even more concerning, their investment policies rarely apply to all of their products.
