4 years on, Paris still has to deal with coal

It was July 2019: players in the Paris financial center swore hand on heart that they would adopt policies to exit the coal sector. A few months earlier, the French Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, threatened to legislate if these commitments were not respected. Four years on, the momentum has stalled and the number of robust policies is stagnating, but the government is not acting accordingly. On the contrary, it remains indifferent to the recommendations of French regulators worried about the shortcomings of coal and fossil fuels in general. Failing to take the place of politicians and force the adoption of robust climate policies, regulators must guarantee the absence of greenwashing, as well as the integrity and full application of commitments already made.
