MACSF, second French life insurer to turn its back on LNG

The insurer of healthcare professionals has become the second French life insurer committed to no longer making new investments in companies developing new oil and gas fields, pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. This is a decisive step in the face of oil and gas expansion for MACSF, whose last fossil fuel policy focused solely on non-conventional oil and gas producers. While MACSF has yet to bring its unit-linked (UC) offering into line with its fossil fuel policy, Reclaim Finance welcomes its new measures and calls on the major French life insurers, in particular banking insurance groups Crédit Agricole Assurances, BNP Paribas Cardif and BPCE Assurances, to draw inspiration from the best practices now defined by MACSF and Suravenir.
