In june 2024, Groupama becomes the 10th French life insurer refusing to buy new bonds of companies still developing new oil and gas fields. Reclaim Finance welcomes this new measure, but regrets that Groupama does not go further by committing not to purchase new bonds from companies developing new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals. Suravenir and MACSF remain the only two life insurers with restrictions for LNG developers. Moreover, Groupama missed the opportunity to extend the scope of its new policy to its unit-linked offering. Reclaim Finance calls on the leaders in the life insurance market, Crédit Agricole Assurances, BNP Paribas Cardif and AXA, to follow suit.
