Paris, December 10, 2024 – Despite an ever-growing climate bill and the increasing risk of an uninsurable world, major (re)insurers continue to exacerbate climate change by supporting the expansion of fossil fuels. This is the criticism leveled by members of the Insure our Future coalition, including Reclaim Finance, which has released its latest “Insurance Scorecard” ranking on the climate policies of 30 of the world’s largest (re)insurers. While some have stepped up their commitments this year, French companies AXA and SCOR remain stagnant and continue to lose ground. In light of the inadequate and disorganized action of (re)insurers, Reclaim Finance is calling on the European Commission to take action to ensure they put an end to their support for fossil fuel expansion.
