The intensity of climate disruption continues unabated. In the first quarter of 2022, more than $32 billion in damage were caused by extreme weather events worldwide. Faced with these risks, insurers and reinsurers have a mandate to protect us. But on its side, the French (re)insurer SCOR, announced at its last general meeting, its intention to reduce by 15% its exposure to (re)insurance contracts linked to natural catastrophes to reduce the impact of these events on its profitability. A desertion that is questionable as the 4th largest reinsurer in the world continues to cover the risks of fossil fuel companies, out of step with the recommendations to limit climate damage and even behind its peers.
